Opportunity To Learn About Other Cultures & Countries This Semester!
Are you interested in traveling and learning about new places? This semester, we'll be offering you the chance to do just that!
We have a unique opportunity to meet and help students from around the world. They are here for academic studies, but first, they must improve their English skills. In an hour-long, weekly practical lab after their formal English classes, they will learn American idioms and practice their language skills conversationally in fun, everyday situations. (For example, you are in a grocery store trying to find an item.) All you have to do is listen, reply, and help them find the right words. We do all of the prep work for you!
You will connect with 2-4 students and as you get to know them, you will learn about their culture and a make new friend in the process! They are eager to meet Americans, and your help means a great deal to them.
Will you help us? We need volunteers for either Tuesday or Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at MCPHS, and any Worcester university student or other students can participate. If you need a ride, we will provide one. Sessions are one hour sharp and we will provide you with the necessary material. We meet 10 or 11 times each semester on a weekly basis, and if you are unable to attend certain weeks, we will plan accordingly.
This is a great way for you to learn and build your resume, as many employers like to see community involvement.
